From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and dark forces expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the secret base, striking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, north of the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the group access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This means them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Planners groups.
Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
